Deputy traveled to the country to discuss public security policies adopted by the Salvadoran government
The federal deputy (PL-MG) traveled to El Salvador this Thursday (13.Nov.2025) and met with the president of the Legislative Assembly, (Partido Novas Ideias), and with the Minister of Justice, . According to the deputy, the objective is to learn about public security initiatives adopted by the country.
On social media, Nikolas commented on the infrastructure and security policies adopted by El Salvador. He also praised the Salvadoran president (Novas Ideias).
In recent years, El Salvador has adopted a security policy marked by forceful actions by the Nayib Bukele government, which has drastically reduced homicide rates while increasing mass arrests.
The model consolidated the image of a safer country, but at the cost of measures that, according to human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, expanded the power of the Executive and reduced civil guarantees.
“The girl who is here helping us said that the airport before Bukele was different, and then there was a huge improvement, part of the country’s structure, public security, so it’s not even mentioned, right? It’s undeniable”, said Ferreira.
According to the deputy, on Friday (Nov 14), he will present forum participants with an overview of public security in Brazil. Nikolas stated that he intends to compare Brazilian data to the period before the reforms implemented by the Salvadoran government.
“It’s very interesting when you see that a person in a very small country that perhaps few people know about becomes a place of learning about what worked. Going from the most dangerous country in the world to the safest country in the world, with practically no homicides, right? So that’s really very interesting, as it shows that it can be done. It can be done, it’s difficult, but it can be done!” declared the deputy.
