Pressure on Prime Minister Fico from the SNS: End cooperation with Miroslav Lajčák!

The coalition SNS calls on the prime minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to end cooperation with his advisor Miroslav Lajčák. He appeals to this in connection with Lajčák’s communication with American financier Jeffrey Epstein. This follows from the opinion of nationalists, which was provided to TASR by party spokeswoman Zuzana Škopcová.

“Lajčák was the Minister of Foreign Affairs and between 2016 and 2020 he held a high post on behalf of the Slovak Republic at the United Nations. The SNS, as part of this government, considers it a scandal if the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a high-ranking state representative continuously informed a person who purposefully obtained information and forwarded it to the interests of another government about the development and internal affairs of the government. It is unimaginable that Lajčák will publicly admit that he communicated with the person in question and, according to the content of the messages, he also met with her in person“, SNS said.

Therefore, at the end of Lajčák, he remains in the position of adviser to the prime minister. “The SNS does not want to assess whether the minister received any benefits from providing this information. Lajčák cannot be an advisor to the Prime Minister in any area. The SNS makes this request as a coalition partner and believes that the prime minister will not ignore our request,” added the nationalists.

At the same time, they again called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) to check all communications from the department in relation to the address in question. They appealed to him to provide the relevant authorities with information on whether or not there was a leak of information that could threaten the security of the state.

The Oversight Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress released thousands of pages of documents related to the case of the late American financier Epstein on Wednesday (11/12). The documents also contain e-mail communication, which allegedly took place between the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of the SR Lajčák and Epstein.

Lajčák stated for TASR that he communicated with the financier in the past only socially as part of his diplomatic duties. He pointed out that the opening of Epstein’s case by the US justice regarding the abuse of minors happened only after his departure from New York in 2018. At the same time, he strongly condemned Epstein’s actions. He drew attention to the fact that they came to light in their entirety only after the financier’s arrest.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in response to Danko’s call for communication control, stated that he does not enter and will not enter any investigation with his statements. In the matter in question, it recommended turning to Lajčák himself.
