Many people were surprised when Markíza TV announced in January 2025 that three-time world cycling champion Peter Sagan will perform in the tenth season of the dance show Let’s Dance. In the end, however, he surprised everyone and was eliminated before the gates of the final. His ex spoke for manager and sports journalist Jozef Korbel.
Sagan’s participation in the marquee dance show did not surprise him at all. “Peta… Peta was… He was still an inscrutable person and even in his youth he wanted, he said, his sister Danka kept saying, he wanted to be an actor. He said he would be an actor. Maybe he made that Forrest Gump scene, that’s amazing. When I’m in a bad mood, I let it go,” he said at the mark of an old parody that Peter had made.
The world-famous athlete did not receive an offer to perform in a dance show for the first time, but only now, after ending his active career, has he decided to accept such a challenge. Despite the fact that he was definitely not an experienced dancer, he was ready to tackle a new adventure.
He also asked the ex-coach for advice. “So he still has those acting tendencies. He demonstrated it, I was with him for eight years, from the beginning, from the age of 18, his gestures at the finish line. No matter how many times he wrote to me, come up with something, what a gesture. Whether it was Forrest Gump or the Hulk, or various gestures, the acting was still in him. He was just a showman. And on a bike, I said it once – an alien on a bike” Korbel added.
Today they are in contact only minimally. “Very little. That’s it… Then it sort of split up. I hate to go back to it, but it was a beautiful eight years. The beginner ones, when even the newspapers didn’t write anything about him. So, I have it in my heart and it’s beautiful” he said honestly.
