The Ministry of the Interior (MV) wants to adjust the social security rules for police officers and soldiers. In practice, he encounters problems. For example, he wants an amendment to the law on social security for policemen and soldiers to ensure the payment of maternity leave to soldiers or policemen who have taken personal custody of a child. This follows from the draft amendment to the law, which the ministry submitted for comment.
“In application practice, there have been cases when a police officer or a professional soldier who took a minor child into personal custody, maternity leave could not be granted, as the legislation does not allow it. The proposed change in legislation should bring the possibility of a claim for the maternity sickness insurance benefit for police officers or professional soldiers, who take care of a minor child based on the decision of the competent authority,” the department stated in the material.
In addition, the Ministry would like to specify the concept of a dependent child whether to change the calculation of the pregnancy allowance. An increase in the disability retirement pension would no longer be considered a change in circumstances.
