Palmeiras makes an agreement and avoids punishment for Vitor Roque at the STJD

Player had been reported for a homophobic post; agreement determines payment of R$80,000 and publication of a message against homophobia

This Saturday (November 15, 2025), O signed an agreement with the (Superior Court of Sports Justice) to prevent striker Vitor Roque from being judged for a post with homophobic content published after the 3-2 victory over, at Morumbi, at the beginning of October.

The Court accepted the proposal sent by the club’s legal department, led by lawyer André Sica. The information was published by the newspaper Estadão and later confirmed by Poder360.

The agreement, formalized as a disciplinary transaction, is provided for in the (Brazilian Code of Sports Justice) and serves as an alternative to judgment. The measure still needs to be approved by the president of the STJD, but this is considered a formal procedure.

The complaint was motivated by a publication in which Roque displayed an image of a tiger, his nickname is “Tigrinho”, with a deer in his mouth, in reference to rival São Paulo. The trial was scheduled for next Wednesday (Nov 19) at the 2nd Disciplinary Committee of the Court.

With the agreement, Roque will not be brought to trial and the eventual suspension will be replaced by a fine of R$80,000 and the obligation to publish, and keep posted on his Instagram, a post against homophobia. The attacker had been denounced by the STJD Prosecutor’s Office based on article 243-G of the CBJD, which deals with discriminatory acts.

In an interview with journalists on Thursday (Nov 13), the player denied having been homophobic and said he saw no reason to be suspended. “It was just a joke, which I posted without malice. Anyone who thinks this, I apologize”, said Vitor Roque.
