The São Paulo Court decided to release five of the 12 suspects involved in the murder of the former general delegate of the Civil Police, . The decision allows them to respond to the process freely, but with the use of precautionary measures, such as the placement of electronic ankle bracelets. The murder of Ruy Ferraz Fontes occurred on September 15, when the former police officer was ambushed and shot dead in his own car, on the coast of São Paulo, after leaving work. Fontes, who was also public security secretary of Praia Grande, was a well-known figure in police circles, which increased the repercussion of the case.

The five suspects who were released by the courts are: Célio Oliveira Pires, Luís Henrique Santos Batista (known as Fofão), Rafael Marcel Dias Simões (known as Jaguar), Danilo Pereira Pena (known as Mathematician) and José Nildo da Silva. They are accused of being part of a criminal organization, and are now monitored by the authorities.

The other seven involved in the case face more serious charges, including qualified homicide (both completed and attempted), illegal possession or possession of a restricted firearm and criminal association. The Civil Police investigation, concluded this week, confirmed the participation of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) in the murder, a prominent criminal group in Brazil. The State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) revealed that the investigation initially included 14 suspects, but two names have not yet been formally included. One of those investigated was killed in the state of Paraná and another has not yet been identified.

The case remains ongoing, with the Court now deciding on the future of those involved. Investigations continue and society awaits clarification on those responsible for this brutal crime.
