Within a few hours IT will come: THESE parts of Slovakia will be covered by a blanket of snow!

  • Significant cooling is expected in Slovakia in the coming days.
  • It will snow in the Žilina region and upper Spiš on Tuesday.
  • Temperatures will drop to -3 to -8 degrees Celsius.

Snow is expected on Tuesday (November 18) in almost the entire Žilina region and the upper Spiš. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informed about it on the social network.

“At a height of approximately 1,500 meters above sea level in the Žilina Region, it will gradually cool down to around minus three degrees Celsius by Monday (November 17) evening. By Tuesday morning, at this level, the temperature in the entire territory of Slovakia will reach the level of minus three to minus eight degrees, and the cold front will reach significantly further east to southeast from our territory.” clarified the institute.

Rainfall is expected in most areas on Monday. The most precipitation over a larger area should fall in central Slovakia and Spiš, rarely up to 45 mm.

Snow should be expected on Tuesday in the entire Žilina region and in the upper Spiš. “There will be mostly one to five centimeters here, locally up to ten centimeters of wet snow in locations above 800 meters. White in positions from 400 meters above sea level will be rare even outside these areas. The snow cover will last until the next night (Wednesday night) mostly only in positions above 600 meters above sea level,” explained SHMÚ.

According to him, Wednesday night will be cold everywhere, while the minimum is expected at the level of minus two to minus seven, in the valleys locally, especially in the north, up to minus 12 degrees.
