Despite tariffs, fruit exports record best October in ten years

According to data from Comex Stat, from the MDIC, Brazil has already reached the total exported in the whole of last year from January to October 2025

Europe was the main destination for national fruit exports

Despite the trade tariffs imposed on products of Brazilian origin, fruit exports recorded the best October in the last ten years in 2025. Even with a 50% tax on entry (now the rate is 40%), the sector recorded a value of US$ 177.5 million in sales to the foreign market, 4.6% above the US$ 169.7 million sold in the same month last year, according to data from Comex Stat from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC). In the last decade, only the month of November last year surpassed this value, with US$ 217 million in export revenue from the segment, which includes fresh or dried fruits and nuts (non-oil seeds).

In October this year, 209.4 thousand tons of fruit were shipped abroad, representing 2.61% of exports from the agricultural sector. The segment is fifth in the ranking of agricultural exports from Brazil. In terms of volume, the country has already reached from January to October this year the total exported throughout last year, one million tons of fruit, according to information from Comex Stat.

In value, fruit exports totaled US$ 1 billion from January to October this year, compared to US$ 1.2 billion earned by the sector throughout last year. In 2024, fruits represented 1.66% of exports from Brazil’s agricultural sector, fifth place in the ranking. Four states in the Northeast accounted for 84.3% of the fruits exported by Brazil in October this year, in terms of value, according to Comex Stat. Pernambuco topped the list and was responsible for 31.6% of exported values, totaling US$56.1 million. Bahia exported US$38.6 million (21.8%), followed by Rio Grande do Norte, with US$36.1 million (20.3%), and Ceará, which registered US$18.8 million (10.6%).

Europe was the main destination for national fruit exports, accounting for 66.4% of the export value. The Netherlands was the international destination that spent the most on purchasing Brazilian fruit in October, US$71.7 million, 40.4% of total exports, according to Comex Stat. Next came the United Kingdom, with US$31.2 million and 17.6% of the exported value, and Spain, with US$14.9 million and 8.4% of the value.
