The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint, said at a press conference that with more than 65% of the acts verified, there is “a marked trend in the four questions”.
The preliminary results of the CNE, with 73% of the acts recorded, show that the “No” is imposed with an increase in sales (61.6%) for the constituent proposal.
The initiative regarding the installation of foreign military bases was rejected with 60.55%. The distance is shorter for questions about party financing (58%) and the number of seats in the Constituent Assembly (53.4%).
“The Ecuadorian people said NO to Noboa, to its lies, to its corruption, to its inability and to its arrogance”, said in X former president Rafael Correa, who proposed the creation of the current Constitution.
For her part, Noboa accepted the results. “Our commitment does not change; it grows stronger. We will continue to fight tirelessly for the country you deserve, with the tools we have,” he said on his social media.
According to the National Electoral Council of Ecuador, more than 80% of the 13.9 million eligible people voted this Sunday (16) in an election that took place without serious incidents.
