Recently launched, the Brazilian Institute of Digital Sovereignty estimates the investment needed to make Brazil one of the five most sovereign nations in the world in the digital area at around R$800 billion by 2035.
The amount will need to be used for infrastructure, innovation, data governance and training.
The institute intends to discuss how Brazil can acquire digital autonomy and to what extent external dependence compromises the country’s position globally.
The institute intends to monitor progress in this regard with the Brazilian Digital Maturity Index, a platform that compares the technological autonomy of cities, states and countries.
Among the members of the institute are Alexandre Zavaglia, a specialist in AI and regulation, and Fabrício Zanini, former president of the ICI (Institute of Smart Cities), among other experts.
