Louvre closes gallery to the public due to ‘fragility’ in the building, announces the museum

The Campana gallery, on the first floor and housing nine rooms dedicated to ancient Greek ceramics, will be closed while inspections are carried out.

Museum showed weakness in the beams

The announced this Monday (17) the closure of one of its galleries to the public “as a precaution” after an audit revealed the “particular fragility” of some beams in one of the building’s wings. The Campana gallery, which is located on the first floor and houses nine rooms dedicated to ancient Greek ceramics, will be closed while “inspections” are carried out on “the special fragility of some beams that support the floors of the second floor of the south wing” of the Sully quadrangle, which surrounds the courtyard known as “Cour Carrée”, specified the statement.
