TJSP elects Francisco Eduardo Loureiro as new president

The Court of Justice of (TJSP) elected, in an online vote, judge Francisco Eduardo Loureiro as its new president for the 2026/2027 biennium. Loureiro received 261 votes, reaching the absolute majority necessary for victory in the first round. He competed with judge Artur Cesar Beretta da Silveira, who obtained 91 votes.

Current inspector general of Justice in SP, Francisco Loureiro graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP) and joined the judiciary in 1985. In his speech after the election, he stated that the Presidency’s main task is to guarantee good working conditions for judges and civil servants. “My commitment to everyone is to do my best to ensure that this is brought to a successful conclusion,” he declared.

The election also defined the other members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. Judge Luís Francisco Aguilar Cortez was elected to the Vice Presidency, with 198 votes. The General Inspectorate of Justice will be commanded by judge Silvia Rocha, who became the first woman to assume a management position at TJSP, with 184 votes.

The presidents of the specialized sections of the court were also elected:

  • Private Law: Judge Roberto Nussinkis Mac Cracken, with 100 votes;

  • Public Law: Judge Luciana Almeida Prado Bresciani, with 64 votes;

  • Criminal Law: Desembargador Roberto Caruso Costabile and Solimene, with 44 votes;

Judge Ricardo Cunha Chimenti was elected to the board of directors of the Escola Paulista da Magistratura (EPM). Voting for management positions involved the 356 judges who make up the Full Court.
