Many cities across Europe are already preparing for the most beautiful holidays of the year and are gradually decorating their squares with Christmas trees. However, the difficult operation does not always succeed. They also know their own about it in Czech Ústí nad Labem, reports the website, which drew attention to the funny case.
The technicians were in charge of installing the Christmas tree, but they were in for a big inconvenience. When the tree was lifted to the top by a crane, the trunk could not support its own weight. The conifer broke in about one third.
The removal of the broken part also attracted attention. While handling the branches, they narrowly missed the statue of St. Anton. “It was a hair’s breadth. The tree swayed between the lamp and the post. When they put it down, it broke nicely,” commented Zdeněk, who filmed the whole situation.
They could no longer use the Christmas landmark and had to get a replacement. According to the spokeswoman, the city is prepared for similar situations. A few hours after the accident, another one was erected in the square.
The tree is already standing in Bratislava
On November 4, this year’s Christmas tree was erected on the Main Square in Bratislava. This time it is approx 11 meter tall Caucasian fir. The tree will be ceremonially lit on November 28. Bratislava’s Christmas markets will also officially open on the same day, however, the stands will be available to visitors a day earlier, i.e. on November 27. Bratislava Cultural and Information Centers informed about this at Tuesday’s press conference.
“The most popular winter festival lasting 40 days will once again combine traditions, a festive music program with charity and community spirit. The new thing is the reopening of the Main Christmas Market after a two-day break during the Christmas holidays already on December 26,” explained Zuzana Bleho Françazová from BKIS, adding that The main Christmas market will last again until the Feast of the Three Kings (January 6).
