Specifically, Mr. Zelensky wrote: “Since the first days of the full invasion of Russia, Greece has been helping us, cooperating with Europe and other partners, in order to create the conditions that will make peace possible. We really appreciate your support and commitment.
Today we have an extremely important agreement on the supply of natural gas to Ukraine – during our meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a letter of intent was signed on the supply of natural gas to Ukraine for the winter season.
Most of Ukraine’s power plants, natural gas production facilities and thermal power plants have been targeted by missiles and drones. Our agreements with Greece today are an important part of the big energy package we have prepared for the winter, in order to ensure the supply of natural gas to Ukraine. Deliveries will start as early as January. In addition to the agreement for immediate supply, there are also long-term agreements.
I am grateful to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the team, the companies and everyone who contributes to reaching such agreements and ensuring their implementation. Thank you, Greece.”
