“Cheap Electricity Law”: Three key points from the government’s mammoth project

The name changed again in the finish. Instead of the Electricity Industry Act (ElWG), the coalition’s mammoth project regarding the electricity market should now be called the “Cheap Electricity Act”. The new set of rules was negotiated politically by the ÖVP, SPÖ and Neos, and the three parties finally agreed on the proposal on Monday evening. Since a constitutional change is also necessary, the Greens or FPÖ now have to be convinced. So nothing has been finally decided yet.
