Leipzig – Football Germany breathes a sigh of relief. In the “final” of the World Cup qualification on Monday in Leipzig, the DFB selection presented itself in much improved form, celebrated a 6-0 (4-0) win over direct rivals Slovakia and, with victory in Group A, also secured a fixed ticket for the 2026 finals in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The Netherlands achieved the same thing after a 4-0 win over Lithuania; the Slovaks, like Poland, have to go into the play-offs.
