The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico (Smer-SD) welcomed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to the Government Office (ÚV) of the Slovak Republic on Tuesday. Fico asked him to strengthen the air defense of Slovakia. TASR informed the press and information department of the Central Office about it.
“At the working dinner, they talked about cooperation between the Slovak Republic and NATO. In this context, Robert Fico emphasized that Slovakia has the sovereign right to decide what pace and structure of military spending it chooses.” said the press department.
According to him, the topic of the meeting was also the current situation in Ukraine. The prime minister repeated that Slovakia will not supply deadly weapons to Ukraine, with the exception of commercial contracts. However, it will continue to provide non-lethal aid.
