Carlos Eduardo dos Santos Galvão Bueno was born in Rio de Janeiro on July 21, 1950. Passionate about sports, he tried to study Administration and Economics, but found himself at the Faculty of Physical Education
It was in São Paulo, in 1974, that his career began, when he started working at Rádio Gazeta, where he covered the World Cup. He also worked at TV Gazeta, where he stayed until 1977
In 1978, he was a commentator for the World Cup in Argentina, on TV Record, where he worked for two months. He then went to Bandeirantes, where he stayed for four years
Galvão started working at Globo in 1981, after success as the voice of Formula 1 on Band in 1980. His first job at the broadcaster was the narration of the game between Jorge Wiltersmann (BOL) and Flamengo for the Libertadores that year.
He covered the 1982 and 1986 World Cups on Globo as second narrator. He also performed at the 1984 Olympic Games. He took over the role of narration at the broadcaster in 1987 and led the team at the 1990 World Cup.
In 1992, he spent ten months at the now defunct Rede OM (1982-1993), after being invited to be Sports director. That year, he was responsible for changing the Libertadores level on Brazilian TV, with the exhibition of São Paulo’s first continental title
After disagreements with Rede OM, he returned to Globo at the beginning of 1993. He played in the 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups. He was also in the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021 Olympics
In motorsport, Galvão narrated Nelson Piquet’s two titles, in 1983 and 1987, and Ayrton Senna’s three championships, in 1988, 1990 and 1991.
In March 2022, Galvão announced his departure from Rede Globo. Even so, he was part of the team of announcers for the 2022 World Cup, and returned to cover the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
After leaving Globo, Galvão presented the podcast ‘PodFalar, Galvão!’, in 2022, and created the GB Channel on YouTube, 2023. He also narrated football games on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming.
In 2025, the announcer returned to Band to present the program “Galvão e Amigos”. In June of the same year, he became a partner at N Sports, a sports channel that has existed since 2018
