Goodbye mold: Brits reveal 'foolproof' method for drying clothes indoors in half the time

Drying clothes indoors can be a challenge in the cold months, especially when humidity builds up and drying takes longer than desired. The topic of home drying in winter has gained prominence, as many consumers are looking for simple and economical ways to avoid mold, condensation and bad odors.

Experts from the British organization Which?, cited by the same country’s newspaper The Mirror, explained that a dehumidifier can significantly speed up the drying of clothes and reduce humidity problems at home.

The recommendation went viral after a video posted on TikTok, where Which? states that this method allows you to “dry your clothes almost twice as fast” and, at the same time, protect your home from mold formation.

A simple trick to dry faster

The test carried out by the organization consisted of placing two identical loads of laundry to dry inside the same room. The only difference was the use of a dehumidifier next to one of the clotheslines. The result was clear: with the device turned on, the clothes dried in practically half the time.

This process is simple, according to the same source. Just hang your clothes on a clothesline and place the dehumidifier nearby. As it removes water from the air, it also accelerates the evaporation of moisture present in fabrics. The organization itself revealed that the device extracted around two liters of water from the environment during the test, drastically reducing the risk of mold.

Importance for health and home

In addition to speed, the dehumidifier helps control condensation and the damp air that forms when clothes are dried indoors. According to experts cited by the same source, leaving damp clothes in heavily used rooms, such as the bedroom, can encourage the appearance of mold, cause unpleasant smells and even cause respiratory problems.

Experts from the British laundry website In The Wash warn that the bedroom is one of the worst rooms for drying clothes, as it is a space where people spend many hours. Accumulated humidity can become a health risk and promote allergies.

A practical solution for winter

With space limitations, the lack of balconies and the reduced use of dryers due to energy costs, more and more families are looking for safe and economical alternatives, according to . Using a dehumidifier can therefore appear as a practical and effective solution, especially during winter, when drying clothes outdoors is not an option.
