The Palestinian organization criticized the draft Security Council resolution on its future, calling it an “attempt to impose international guardianship” on the region.
Hamas and other Palestinian organizations say they see “dangers” in the draft resolution, which calls for the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF).
The organization for ISF and disarmament is clearly negative
“The proposed configuration paves the way for external sovereignty over national Palestinian decision-making, transferring the administration of Gaza and reconstruction projects to a supranational international entity with broad powers – effectively stripping the Palestinians of their right to manage their own affairs,” the organization’s statement said.
According to Hamas, humanitarian efforts must be “handled through adequate Palestinian institutions under the supervision of the United Nations” and “on the basis of respect for Palestinian sovereignty and the needs of the population.”
Aid should not be used to marginalize Palestinian institutions, the organization said. He also confirmed that he rejects “any condition related to the disarmament of Gaza”.
Today the crucial meeting of the SA
The UN Security Council is discussing the situation in the Middle East today, a month after a ceasefire came into effect after more than two years of war in Gaza. It is expected that the US government’s draft decision will also be on the agenda.
It is supported by regional actors such as Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Turkey, among others.
Western countries have called for the Gaza peace plan to be secured through a UN Security Council mandate.
In addition to disarming Hamas, this plan envisages a second phase involving foreign troops to stabilize the coastal enclave and a transitional government made up of Palestinian technocrats.
