Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Trump’s plan would promote peace in Gaza

The office of the Israeli prime minister praised Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, which won the support of the UN Security Council. The plan includes demilitarization and the creation of a Palestinian state.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday highlighted US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip, which it believes will bring peace and prosperity. She spoke after the Security Council of the United Nations (UNSC) approved a resolution supporting this peace plan in New York on Monday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

“We believe that President Trump’s plan will lead to peace and prosperity because it insists on the complete demilitarization, disarmament and deradicalization of Gaza,” Netanyahu’s office said on Network X. “In line with President Trump’s vision, this will lead to the further integration of Israel and its neighbors, as well as the expansion of the Abrahamic Accords,” he added. The 2020 Abraham Accords normalized Israel’s relations with Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. The US President announced in November that Kazakhstan would join these agreements.

Netanyahu’s office also said that the “courage and sacrifice” of Israeli soldiers, along with Trump’s diplomatic efforts, helped return all the living and most of the dead hostages from Gaza. He stated that he expects the remaining remains of the bodies of the hostages to be handed over.

Reactions to the plan

Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza envisages the disarmament of the Palestinian militant movement Hamas, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force and the establishment of a peace council – a transitional governing body for the Gaza Strip. In its vote on Monday, the UN Security Council basically gave approval to the transition to the second phase of Trump’s plan. The adopted resolution also mentions the possibility of a Palestinian state.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian Authority called for the immediate implementation of this resolution. On the contrary, Hamas criticizes it and calls for the destruction of Israel and the declaration of an Islamic state in the historical territory of Palestine, writes DPA. The Israeli government has long been opposed to a two-state solution, according to which a Palestinian state would threaten Israel’s existence.
