PM acquitted for death Leandro Lo asks fighter’s family for forgiveness: “I had to get my hands dirty”

Military police officer Henrique Otavio Oliveira Velozo, in August 2022, recorded a video asking for forgiveness from the family and friends of the world champion of the sport. Last Friday (14/11), the agent was acquitted by the Jury Court, which agreed with the thesis of self-defense presented by the lieutenant’s lawyers.

Then, the lieutenant addressed the fighter’s loved ones, who died at the age of 33, in addition to remembering the night of the murder: “And in his name, I need to make a request, which is a request for forgiveness, a request for forgiveness to his family, his mother, his father, his sister, his friends and all the people who loved Leandro Lo.”

“But I would also like to clarify that on that day, on that tragic day, I was placed on a limit, a limit that I would not like to be in. Where I had, unfortunately, to get my hands dirty in order to preserve my life, so I ask everyone’s forgiveness, and in the name… not in my name, but in the name of God, who I know is merciful, fair… and may God comfort and console everyone’s hearts”, concluded Henrique Velozo.

The defense’s thesis was accepted by at least four of the seven jurors, who voted to acquit the accused. The sentence was handed down by judge Fernanda Jacomini, from the 1st Jury Court. After the acquittal: “It was impunity. Yesterday I buried my son for the second time. That’s the feeling.”
