The “Black Friday” initiative returns to Portimão between the 24th and 29th of November, once again encouraging purchases in local businesses with discounts of up to 50%. According to the Municipality of Portimão, this is “an excellent opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts”.
For six days, participating stores — duly identified with the official campaign poster — offer items at reduced prices, in a local adaptation of a North American tradition that, as the municipality says, “provides numerous low-cost and appealing shopping suggestions”.

The participating establishments have a diverse offer, ranging from clothing to footwear, including accessories, handicrafts and regional products. The City Council emphasizes that this diversity aims to reinforce consumption in local commerce, “where everything is out of the way”.
According to , Black Friday seeks to “create opportunities and interactions, especially in anticipation of the festive season”, adding that the initiative contributes to giving new dynamics to local commerce, while at the same time allowing entrepreneurs to “disclose and monetize their commercial and service offerings”.
From this year onwards, the campaign is part of the Marca Comércio do Centro Portimão, a program that provides for several actions to encourage traditional commerce. The organization is in charge of the Portimonense Commerce and Services Association, with the support of the Portimão City Council and the Parish of Portimão.
