A Russian drone attack damaged the building of the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspiľna in Dnipro. The attack caused a fire, injuries and damage to the roof and infrastructure.
A Russian drone attack on Tuesday night damaged the building that houses the editorial offices of Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspiľna and Ukrainian radio station Dnipro. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report and the Suspiľna website.
The broadcaster said the city of Dnipro was the target of a “massive attack” by drones on Monday night. “As a result of shelling, a fire broke out, windows and doors were blown out, the building’s ceilings and roof were damaged,” Suspiľne announced and also published images of the damaged interior of the building. At the time of the attack, there were no employees in the newsroom.
Mayor of Dnipro Boris Filatov specified on Facebook that Russian forces also hit the TV tower during the attack.
Reuters reports that Suspiľne is Ukraine’s public broadcaster, which operates television, radio and online news services through regional newsrooms across the country.
Long-term infrastructure attacks
The industrial city of Dnipro and the wider Dnepropetrovsk region has been the target of repeated Russian attacks with drones and missiles during the more than three and a half year war. These attacks claimed the lives of civilians, damaged homes, industry and infrastructure.
The interim governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region, Vladyslav Hajvanenko, said on the Telegram platform that two people were injured in drone attacks in the area. At the same time, the attacks caused several fires and damaged residential buildings and city infrastructure.
