Seoul has rejected Pyongyang’s accusations. South Korea continues to work to reduce tensions and build trust

South Korea declares efforts for peace and trust with North Korea. At the same time, he defends security cooperation with the US, which the DPRK describes as confrontational.

South Korea has no hostile intentions toward North Korea and will continue to work to ease tensions between the two countries, the South Korean presidential office announced. TASR informs about it based on a report by the Jonhap agency.

In a statement, Seoul rejected Pyongyang’s claims that the release of a briefing paper on recent trade and security agreements between the US and South Korea represented the “formalization” of a confrontational policy against the DPRK.

Work on trust

“We will continue to work diligently to reduce tensions and restore trust,” the South Korean president’s office said. According to him, security cooperation with the United States aims to protect the country’s national interests.

The South Korean government announced last week that it had finalized an agreement with the United States to build nuclear-powered submarines. To this agreement, North Korea responded that the submarine program is a “dangerous attempt at confrontation”.
