In a statement, Seoul rejected Pyongyang’s claims that the release of a briefing paper on recent trade and security agreements between the US and South Korea represented the “formalization” of a confrontational policy against the DPRK.

“We will continue to work diligently to reduce tensions and restore trust,” the South Korean president’s office said. According to him, security cooperation with the United States aims to protect the country’s national interests.
The South Korean government announced last week that it had finalized an agreement with the United States to build nuclear-powered submarines. To this agreement, North Korea responded that the submarine program is a “dangerous attempt at confrontation”.
