The school, which should have opened its doors at 8 am, remains closed and classes have not started.

During the demonstration, students sang, played drums and called on the Government to take measures to guarantee a sustainable future.

“Not only is it important to be here, but we were left with no other choice. We all want the possibility of imagining our future in safety, on a habitable planet, and the truth is that, at the moment, the Government is not guaranteeing that”, he highlighted to SIC Notícias, Matilde Ventura, from End the Fossil Movement.

According to the student, a letter was delivered to the Government almost a year ago, signed by thousands of students, warning that if the demand for the end of fossil fuels by 2030 was not accepted, they would resort to protests in schools.

“The Government must commit to the only measure that we have learned that guarantees our future: the end of fossil fuels by 2030”, he added.
