The Civil Guard has located a WhatsApp conversation between businessman Antxon Alonso and his wife Karmele Atutxa. The conversation dates back to September 9, 2021. It reveals “a certain concern,” as described by the armed institute, about the “excessive expenses” that Cerdán’s wife would have been incurring. This is the literal transcription. Karmele Atutxa speaks:

And he insists: “Spend and spend. And restaurants every other weekend. That’s enough for them. All of the good, the best. That’s not a plan. And on top of that they are not discreet at all. You have to take her between the two of you and speak clearly to her.” Antxon responds: “We have agreed to stop it.”
This newspaper has contacted Cerdán’s wife, but has not answered any questions. The Civil Guard also points to Cerdán’s wife in the mobile phone agenda: “Paqui woman Santi.” What expenses are they referring to in this conversation? The UCO report speaks of 33,574 euros in expenses that would be linked to a credit card that Cerdán and his wife allegedly used. The first payment was recorded on this card on December 20, 2021 and it was last used on February 19, 2024. The report details, among others, an expense of 7,470 euros at the Sazadon restaurant, located just 170 meters from Cerdán and his wife’s house in Madrid. 1,795 euros during a trip to Ibiza. 204 euros in a restaurant in Seville.
