The House of Representatives voted in favor of making public the files on the sex offender case. The vote was held this Tuesday (18), and was almost unanimous, and comes after e, a former friend of Epstein, withdrew his opposition to disclosure and supported the legislation, which now goes to the Senate for approval. “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide,” the American president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Tycoon and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in his cell in August 2019, before facing a federal trial for a series of scandals linked to his network of minors sexually abused by him and some of his guests, in many cases world personalities.

The case revealed cracks in support for the Republican leader, who ran on the promise of publishing the files, but backtracked after taking office in January. Some critics accused the president of wanting to prevent the vote to hide elements that would implicate him in the case, something he denies.

In these documents, which came to light last Thursday (13), the sex offender suggested that the agent “knew about the girls” and spent hours with one of the victims in his home. But the president, who does not face any judicial investigation in this case, insisted on Friday that he knew nothing about it and counterattacked by demanding an investigation into the relationship between Epstein and some Democratic figures, including former president Bill Clinton (1993-2001).
