US industrial orders rise 1.4% in August compared to July

Excluding the transport sector, orders increased by 0.1% in the monthly comparison of August

Industrial orders in the United States rose 1.4% in August compared to July, to US$612.0 billion, according to data from the country’s Department of Commerce. The result, however, was slightly below the expectations of analysts consulted by The Wall Street Journal, who predicted an increase of 1.5% in the period.

Excluding the transport sector, orders increased by 0.1% in the monthly comparison of August.

Without the defense category, orders increased by 0.9% in the same period.
