The number of unemployment benefit claims in the United States in the week ending October 18th was 232 thousand, according to a survey released by the Department of Labor this Tuesday, 18th. It is the first publication of the data since September 25th, the last week before the shutdown.

The number of continued orders was 1.957 million, slightly above the 1.947 million recorded in the previous week.
