Heat from radiators often escapes in an unused way, especially towards the wall. Professor Vincenzo Schettino, an expert in physics, explains how radiators release heat and where we make mistakes. There is a simple trick that will allow you to make the most of the radiator’s heating potential. Discover how ordinary aluminum foil can increase heating efficiency and reduce your bills!
Tear it up and put it behind the radiator. After just an hour you will feel more warm
It doesn’t seem to be a very complicated device. It is a very simple mechanism – flowing water or air in the radiators heats the space. However, the heat in the room is influenced not only by the heating level selected on the radiator, but also by a number of other variables. One of the most common mistakes is not using the radiator’s heating potential. A quite common error is covering and blocking radiators. This way you block warm air from spreading around the room. Professor Vincenzo Schettino, a renowned expert in physics, pointed out that many radiators are wasted. He emphasized that even though radiators are most often mounted against the wall, they still heat equally on both sides. This means that some of the heat is wasted.
– Radiators transfer heat in various ways: through contact, convection and radiation – Professor Schettino pointed out.
There is a way that will allow you . Thanks to it, the house will become warmer and the bills will remain at the same level. Schettino points out that the simplest solutions are the best. In his opinion, even ordinary aluminum foil will allow you to make better use of the radiator. – To avoid losing the heat radiated from the back of the radiator (because the radiator also radiates to the back) through the wall, place a sheet of aluminum foil between the radiator and the wall. – suggests Schettino.
Just prepare a few sheets of aluminum foil and place them with the shiny side behind the radiator. Thanks to this, the foil will reflect heat towards the room. This simple method will make the room warmer without having to increase the heater’s power.
You can also use aluminum foil the other way around. In the summer, many people spread it on their windows. The shiny side should be placed outside. Aluminum foil installed in this way will reflect sunlight and the apartment will not heat up.
