This snack will also be perfect for the upcoming St. Andrew’s Day.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 2 large onions,
- 150 g breadcrumbs,
- 100 ml of milk,
- 60 g of wheat flour,
- 1 egg,
- 1 flat teaspoon of sweet pepper,
- a pinch of salt and pepper,
- 1/3 teaspoon of granulated garlic,
- 1/3 teaspoon dried basil,
- 1/3 teaspoon dried oregano,
- 1/3 teaspoon of thyme.
Pour half of the flour into a small bowl and set aside.
Pour the other half of the flour into another bowl and mix with the milk and egg. Add all the spices and mix until a uniform paste is obtained.
Pour breadcrumbs into the third bowl.
Cut the onion into rings about 0.5 cm thick. Separate them into individual circles.
Take one disc at a time and coat it first in flour, and then in the previously prepared dough with spices. Wait until the excess dough drips off, then coat in breadcrumbs, pressing them firmly against the onion.
Place the onion rings on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Put them in the oven preheated to 220 degrees Celsius and bake for 17-20 minutes, until nicely browned. After 10 minutes, rotate the discs.
Serve the crispy onion rings from the oven warm, immediately after preparation. They won’t be as crispy after reheating, so it’s best to prepare them fresh.
