Deputy asks if colleague can be armed in plenary – 11/18/2025 – Brasília Hoje

Representative Glauber Braga (-RJ) questioned, in the Chamber plenary, on Tuesday night (18), whether a parliamentarian could be armed at the scene, even if he were a member of the security forces or Secretary of Security.

The president of the Chamber, (-PB), responded that this was not allowed.

According to members of the PSOL bench, Glauber’s suspicion was about the rapporteur of PL Antifaction, (PP-SP), who is a deputy and secretary of Public Security in , in the government (Republicans).

When contacted by the reporter, Derrite’s advisor stated that he was not armed and that, having experience as a deputy, he knows that this is prohibited.

“I wanted to ask if there is any special authorization from the Board of Directors so that a parliamentarian can be armed with a firearm in the plenary session. And, if there is no such authorization, what is the consequence of a deputy, even if he is a security agent or Security Secretary, being armed in the Chamber plenary? If this constitutes an illegal action”, Braga asked Motta.

“It is prohibited to carry weapons of any kind in the Chamber buildings and their adjacent areas, and non-compliance with this prohibition constitutes a disciplinary infraction and a misdemeanor”, replied the President of the Chamber.

Glauber then questioned what would happen in the event of a complaint in this regard.

“We will fully comply with the regulations that guarantee that no parliamentarian can be armed in the Chamber’s premises, especially in the plenary,” said Motta.
