The manufacturer McCormick Polska SA informed the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate that their Kamis products exceeded the chlorpyrifos standards for cloves.
Chlorpyrifos was detected in two batches of Kamis brand cloves, which exceeds the standards set by the European Union – these batches have already gone on sale. Consumers who have purchased these types of spices should not consume them. This pesticide can cause serious disturbances in the body’s functioning, especially in children under 10 years of age. Its consumption by pregnant women may also negatively affect the development of the fetus.
This substance in increased amounts may damage the nervous system. Its consumption may also result in problems with the hormonal and immune systems. The State Sanitary Inspection authorities are working to withdraw the product from sale.
