Passengers witnessed the drama on Wednesday morning. In the premises of the railway station Košice one of the trains of the Slovak Railway Company derailed. The information was provided by the railway portal At least one wagon was supposed to derail on the spot, which significantly damaged the track in a length of about 100 meters. Damage to the track and limited capacity in the reconstructed station will probably cause train delays.
“Today, at approximately 7:20 a.m., train Os 8533 derailed with a bogie on the last carriage at the Košice station. The exact cause and circumstances of this event are under investigation.” specified the spokesman of the Slovak Railway Company, Ján Baček. The portal added that the same extraordinary event also occurred on the spot in 2023.
