The government (PT) tried to postpone the vote on the report on the anti-faction bill presented by the deputy (PP-SP) this Tuesday (18) in the Chamber plenary, but was defeated. The topic will now be discussed by deputies.
Members of the federal government and parliamentarians from the allied base accused the rapporteur of the matter of “mischaracterizing” the project sent by the Executive and, in this sense, advised the topic to be removed from the voting agenda. The proposal was considered a priority by Palácio do Planalto and was also seen as a response to the public security crisis generated by the mega-operation in Rio de Janeiro against the Red Command that left more than 120 people dead.
Government officials also criticized Derrite’s back and forth with the presentation of six opinions since he was appointed rapporteur. In addition to the government, the PT-PCdoB-PV federation and the PSOL-Rede federation were in favor of withdrawing from the agenda. The request, however, was rejected by 316 votes against and 110 in favor.
A request to postpone discussion was also rejected. There were 114 votes in favor of the postponement and 335 against.
PT leader in the Chamber, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), stated that he has never seen “so much confusion” in the discussion of a topic. “The sixth version was presented at 6:17 pm. Rapporteur Derrite refused to negotiate with the government. What we are asking for here is the minimum: time to discuss this project. They have already put a lot of strange things in here [do texto]” said Lindbergh.
The parliamentarian also accused the rapporteur of refusing to dialogue with the federal government. According to him, there was a meeting scheduled for this Tuesday morning between Motta, Derrite and ministers Gleisi Hoffmann (Secretariat of Institutional Relations) and Ricardo Lewandowski (Justice and Public Security) which was canceled because the rapporteur refused to dialogue with the government.
Gleisi classified the presentation of the reports as a “legislative mess”. “It’s too bad to present six reports in a clumsy way and not meet with anyone,” he said.
According to a government leadership, representatives from the base should use the speeches throughout this Tuesday’s session to criticize the text presented by Derrite, associating the proposal with an attempt to weaken the Federal’s actions and shield investigations carried out by the corporation.
