This is not just a sporting issue, the league considers that the absence of stars could compromise the competitive integrity of games and the fan experience. The “Player Participation Policy” was approved ahead of the 2023-24 season to replace the old Player Resting Policy.
According to the rule, the first infraction carries a fine of US$100,000 (R$530,000). If there is a repeat offense, the amount increases to US$250,000 (R$1.3 million), and in new violations it can exceed US$1 million (R$5.3 million), as reported since the policy was approved.
