Oswaldo D'Albuquerque wins election for MPAC attorney general

The election for Attorney General of Justice moved the Public Ministry of Acre this Tuesday, during the vote that defined the best placed names to compose the list that will be sent to the State Government. The count, carried out in the headquarters building, attracted civil servants, prosecutors and prosecutors who followed each stage of the count.

Five members competed for class preference, in alphabetical order: Álvaro Luiz Araújo Pereira, Cosmo Lima de Souza, Glaucio Ney Shiroma Oshiro, Marcela Cristina Ozório and Oswaldo D’Albuquerque Lima Neto.

Once the polls were closed and the votes were announced, the results showed a close race. Oswaldo D’Albuquerque came out ahead and secured first position with 49 votes, taking the lead on the list. Close behind came prosecutor Marcela Cristina Ozório, who totaled 45 votes, followed by prosecutor Álvaro Luiz Araújo Pereira, with 40 votes.

After the result, Oswaldo made a quick demonstration, highlighting the normality of the entire internal electoral process. He stated that the vote took place in a “clean and absolutely transparent” manner and said that he will only make an official statement after the decision of the governor, responsible for choosing the new attorney general.

The other competitors also had significant votes: Glaucio Ney Shiroma Oshiro obtained 38 votes, while Cosmo Lima de Souza received 20. The election did not record blank or null votes, reinforcing the active participation of MPAC members.

With the numbers released, Oswaldo, Marcela and Álvaro form the official triple list. The document will be forwarded to the governor, who must choose one of the three to occupy the position of attorney general for the next biennium.
