Panama wins, sees Suriname lose and returns to the World Cup after absence in Qatar

Panama is back in the World Cup. After the unprecedented participation in Russia, in 2018, and the absence in Qatar, in 2022, the canaleros they stamped their passports for the 2026 World Cup, in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The place was won after a perfect sixth and final round of Group A of the third phase of the competition. The Panamanians hosted El Salvador, won 3-0 and saw Suriname lose 3-1 in a visit to Guatemala.

Like this, the canaleros they rose to the lead, with 12 points, while the Surinamese fell to second place, with nine points and three goals to spare, and, at least, advanced to the intercontinental play-offs.
