One of the most important achievements that the governor () would have for his terms at the head of the government would be the expansion of BRB (Banco de Brasília). In 2018, the bank had approximately 615 thousand account holders. In August 2025, the figure reached 9.6 million.

In his emphatic defense of the negotiation, Ibaneis’ frequent argument was that the purchase of Master was part of the public bank’s nationalization strategy.

BRB’s expansion was articulated based on initiatives such as increasing spending on advertising and aggressive rates in the credit market.
A study by Dieese (Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Economic Studies) on BRB advertising and sponsorship showed that the bank went from R$7.68 million in expenses in 2018 to R$129 million in 2023.
In the sports area, the bank’s sponsorships of Flamengo and F1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto are the most eye-catching. The red-black team from Rio de Janeiro, Ibaneis’ favorite team, receives around R$40 million annually from the bank. Bortoleto, in turn, had R$8.4 million in 2025, according to BRB’s advertising expense statements.
