Tarcísio de Freitas, Cláudio Castro and deputies such as Mario Frias and Nikolas Ferreira praised voting on social media
Right-wing governors and congressmen used social media on Tuesday night (18.Nov.2025) to celebrate the election in the Chamber of Deputies. , the project toughens penalties against criminal organizations and creates the Legal Framework for Combating Organized Crime.
The deputies’ approval of the project is a victory for the president of the Chamber, (Republicanos-PB), and the rapporteur, (PP-SP). Derrite commanded the SSP-SP (Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo) and left his position to return to the Chamber and report the text. The governor of São Paulo, (Republicans), celebrated the result of the vote: “It is a decisive step towards stifling organized crime. Impunity is over. In São Paulo and Brazil, the message is clear: A criminal’s place is in jail.”

The federal deputy (PL-SP) selected some measures from the approved text, such as “regime in maximum security prisons”“end of benefits such as pardon and easy regime progression” e “criminal equivalence to crimes with an impact similar to terrorism”.
The congressman said: “Our objective is clear and opposite to that of the left: we want to increasingly protect citizens and fight organized crime hard.”
The deputy (PL-MG) congratulated Derrite, who the country gave “a decisive step against criminal factions” and criticized the original text sent by the government (PT).
“The Lula government sent a weak project to the Chamber, full of loopholes and benefits for factions, almost an invitation for the State to continue on its knees. But today Congress did what the country expected: it closed doors, toughened penalties and built a true Legal Framework to confront factions. Result: we approved a firm, responsible text that is equal to the violence that Brazil faces. Meanwhile, PT, Psol and the left voted against. Once again, they found themselves on the wrong side of history”disse Nikolas.

Derrite thanked Freitas for the “opportunity” to take leave from his position to take on the role of project rapporteur. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to be able to work over these 3 years with an idealistic, competent, intelligent manager, of the quality of the governor Tarcísio de Freitas”he stated.
The rapporteur said that “at no time” the governor would have interfered in the report and praised Tarcísio for giving “priority” has public security agenda: “For him, it’s not just an electoral priority, it’s a real priority to deliver to the Brazilian population.”
The deputy declared that he only became secretary because the former president (PL) would have “confident” Tarcísio the leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
