The United States, in cooperation with Russia, is secretly preparing a new plan to end the war in Ukraine, modeled on the Gaza peace plan of US President Donald Trump. The information was brought on Tuesday by the Axios portal with reference to American, Russian and Ukrainian sources, writes TASR according to a Reuters report.
According to Axios, the peace plan is divided into 28 points and, like Trump’s plan for Gaza, consists of four categories – peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe and the future form of American relations with Russia and Ukraine.
The American source of Axios reports that the main mastermind behind the plan is Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the US president. He allegedly “discussed it in detail” with the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kirill Dmitriev. It is said that the Ukrainian side was also informed about the plan. Axios writes that Witkoff discussed it with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov earlier this week in Miami. An American source states that the White House is gradually beginning to inform European representatives about the plan.
According to the Russian source, Moscow is optimistic about the success of the plan because, compared to previous attempts, “the Russian opinion is being heard.” Axios reports that it is unclear how the plan settles controversial issues, such as the division of territory in eastern Ukraine.
