Tired of fingerprints on the TV, special cleaners and dust that immediately returns? Clean TVs and computer screens like this.
Why does dust love television?
Does it happen to you that you wipe down the TV and in a few hours it is gray and slightly dusty again? It’s as if the dust has a loving relationship with the screen. And he actually has, he’s attracted to static electricity.
The screen is weakly charged, mainly due to the dry air in the apartment. Dust particles become polarized and easily stick to TVs and other appliances.
Unfortunately, the proven advice of our grandmothers cannot be used in the case of new TVs. Previously, with heavy glass televisions, the dust was usually washed off or even with a little gasoline. Glass can withstand almost anything. But today’s thin displays have sensitive layers and any aggressive spray could damage them.
This is how the author of the post from the YouTube channel cleans the TV .
What works best?
- Forget cleaners, paper towels and old rags. Subtlety is the key.
- Switch off the TV and disconnect it from the mains.
- Prepare a clean and dry microfiber cloth.
- Wipe dust and fingerprints off the TV in a circular motion.
- If smudges remain, lightly moisten the cloth with distilled water and repeat.
- For stubborn stains, just use a mixture of water and vinegar. Never use it directly on the screen. Always apply only a small amount to a cloth and then clean.
Using a cloth from microfibers is the simplest and safest, because it does not irritate the surface and attracts dust without unnecessary static, but the disadvantage is the need to wash the towels frequently. Antistatic sprays or wipes work great, create a fine film and the dust doesn’t settle as much, but you have to count on extra chemicals and a higher price.
Homemade solution Distilled is cheap and ecological, but lasts a shorter time and not everyone likes its smell. Paper towels are the worst choice, they leave scratches easily and make static electricity even worse.
How to keep the screen clean for a long time
A gentle touch with a soft cloth is sufficient for cleaning once a week. Regular scrubbing is better than scrubbing in bursts. And when you take the cloth in your hand, also wipe the frame and the ventilation holes. The TV will thank you for it with quiet operation and a longer lifespan.
Although it is not a popular solution, in very dusty apartments it is useful to drag a light piece of textile over the screen. Yes, it will be like at grandma’s, but if you have a lot of dust in your apartment, for example due to the construction going on nearby, don’t hesitate and protect the TV. After all, it doesn’t have to be a lace blanket or a bedspread with ruffles.
