Blackout in Paris
Four neighborhoods in the French capital were left without electricity due to a breakdown. Metro and trains stopped.
Four neighborhoods of Paris were this morning affected by a power outage electricity that left 170,000 homes without electricityaccording to the electricity company RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Électricité).
The electrical failure began at 6:38 a.m. local time. “it only lasted a few minutes”according to Le Parisien, which cites RTE, and at 7:10 local time, (:10 in Lisbon) 55,000 homes “were still without electricity”.
The failure affected traffic lights and public lighting poles in part of two districts of Paris and Hauts-de-Seine and will have lasted “five minutes”, according to a source from Enedis, the public company that manages electricity distribution, in statements to , which claims to have found that “not everything was restored at 7:00 local time”.
“It is a technical incident at the Issy-les-Moulineaux RTE substation, with 200 megawatts”, the manager of the electricity transmission network explained to the French publication, who offered “apologies for the inconvenience caused”.
The restoration of electricity supply was underway in “a good part of the residences” affected in the south of Paris and in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
The power failure also affected power lines. metro e trains suburban areas of Paris, whose circulation was temporarily interrupted.
According to RTE, the exact origin of the incident is not yet known; investigations are ongoing.
