More than 40 people injured after train collision in Czechia

Two passenger trains collided in Czechia this Thursday (20), leaving at least five people seriously injured and another 40 slightly injured, according to information from authorities and local media.

The Fire Department reported that the collision occurred in a region about 132 km south of Prague, the country’s capital. All passengers on both trains were evacuated.

A spokeswoman for a regional hospital told CTK news agency that the five people with serious injuries were admitted.

Transport Minister Martin Kupka told broadcaster X that the collision remains under investigation, but preliminary information indicates that one of the trains probably ran a red light.
