The president of , , criticized the president’s decision () in public management communication and stated that the debate should not be reduced “to a mere political dispute”.
The law sanctioned by the president prohibits government bodies from “using new forms of inflection of gender and number of words in the Portuguese language, contrary to consolidated grammatical rules”.
Coradi argues that the discussion “must continue to be held with educators, linguists, schools, social movements and institutions”. “Brazil is a plural country, and the language is alive, constantly changing and always changing based on society itself”, he states.
“PSOL respects the democratic process, but considers, however, the sanctioning of the law to be mistaken”, he adds. “Our party is committed to combating discrimination and ensuring that each person is recognized in their dignity.”
The party has recently used gender neutrality in its internal activities. In March 2024, an instance linked to the national management of the organization released language.
