The appointment of Jorge Messias to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) was confirmed this Thursday (20). The expectation is that an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union will be published today, formalizing the sending of the message to the Federal Senate. The appointment process follows a specific schedule after publication in the Official Gazette. The next step involves a conversation between the president of the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) and the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), to define the date of the hearing.

Approval process

in the CCJ and, subsequently, have its name approved in plenary. For definitive confirmation of the appointment, at least 41 favorable votes from senators are required.

The timing of the nomination is similar to what happened with , which was nominated on November 27th and had its approval completed on December 14th. In the current case, the appointment takes place a week earlier compared to Dino’s period, which may favor the necessary political articulations.

Before formalization in the Official Gazette, one is planned at Palácio da Alvorada to make the nomination official.
