The Prime Minister of Ukraine announced an important meeting in Kyiv. Strategic decisions towards Russia intensify the pressure

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenková emphasized the necessity of financial and energy sanctions against Russia during the visit of American representatives to Kyiv.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenkova announced on Thursday that she met with the Secretary of the US Department of Defense for Land Forces Dan Driscoll in Kyiv. In connection with the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine, she declared that it is essential to strengthen the energy and financial sanctions against Russia. According to Svyrydenko, the strategy of exerting pressure on Russia is proving to be effective. It was reported by the Sky News station, writes TASR.

Driscoll arrived to visit Ukraine on Wednesday along with US Army Chief of Staff Randy George. On Thursday, they should meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, his office confirmed according to AFP.

Direct view of aggression

“This visit provides the high-ranking military officials accompanying the Secretary with an important opportunity to assess the situation on the ground and see with their own eyes the consequences of Russian aggression,” Svyrydenkova wrote on the X network.

According to the information of the NBC News channel, which referred to an American source, the trip of the US representatives to Ukraine is a plan of the White House, the purpose of which is to “restart peace negotiations.”

A new peace plan

The US Embassy in Kyiv said Driscoll and George had come to Ukraine on behalf of US President Donald Trump’s administration on a “fact-finding and meeting with Ukrainian officials”.

The visit also takes place at a time when the media reports on the details of the new 28-point peace plan from the US workshop, which consulted with Russia on its preparation. The plan, approved by Trump this week, includes territorial concessions by Ukraine to Russia and a significant reduction in the size of the Ukrainian military, in exchange for security guarantees from the US, according to an AFP source.

Kyiv did not take part in the drafting of the proposed plan, only receiving information about its rough outlines, a source close to the Ukrainian government and a European official said.
