“The Survivor”: what does Schwarzenegger think of the remake with Glen Powell?

A new version of “The Survivor” arrives in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (20), with Glen Powell in the lead role — the same character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger almost 40 years ago.

At a special screening of the new film in Los Angeles, Schwarzenegger revealed what he thinks about and what he thought of the title directed by Edgar Wright (“Running Away”). The video was published by the director on social media.

“In 1987, we made the movie ‘The Survivor’. That was the decade when most of the best action movies were made. Now, of course, a lot of companies come and do a remake — and in most cases, I’m not happy with that, because they’re perfect movies. Why remake? It’s a stupid thing“, began the veteran.

“But I always said in my interviews that there was a film I made that did very well, but I felt we didn’t have enough budget to create the futuristic aesthetic in which the plot is set. That film was ‘The Survivor’. I think Paul Michael Glaser did a great job directing it. It was a great action film. It was successful and everything. But I always felt like I could be remade in a better wayr”, he revealed.

The actor who gained fame starring in productions such as “The Terminator” (1984) and “The Predator” (1987) said that Powell and Wright approached him to talk about the remake.

“Now, Paramount came and said, ‘Hey, we’re going to do a remake,’ and the director and the actors came to me and said, ‘We want your blessing,’ and I said, of course. I want this movie to be remade. Just do a good job,” he said.

“A week ago, I watched the movie — and I was impressed. I think they did a fantastic job. The visual effects are fantastic, the action scenes are fantastic, the acting is fantastic. The story was very well told and everything, so I was pretty happy with it.”he stated.

What is “The Survivor” about?
