The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 33-year-old tourist in Albufeira, in the district of Faro, on Wednesday for committing the crime of pornography against minors, the police force announced this Thursday.
In a statement, the police said that the arrest occurred following “information reached PJ” and which led a team of inspectors to go to the place where the man was.
According to the PJ, the investigation measures made it possible to confirm theexistence of diverse pornographic material, involving minors of pre-adolescent age, in the possession of the suspect, whose nationality was not specified.

The operation by the PJ’s Southern Directorate had the collaboration of the Republican National Guard of Albufeira, concludes the police.
The crime of pornography of minors is provided for in article 176 of the Penal Code and covers conduct such as using minors in pornographic photographs or recordings, producing, distributing or possessing this type of material.
The crime is punished, as a rule, with imprisonment of one to five years, with the penalty being aggravated up to eight years when committed with violence, serious threat or profit-making intent.
It is a public crime, the procedure for which does not depend on the victim filing a complaint.
The penalties are also subject to aggravation by a third, for example, whenever the perpetrator is the victim’s ancestor.
